Guide to Ionizer Air Purifier

Ionizer air purifiers trap airborne particles that contaminate the air we breathe. Many air purifiers come with built-in, independent ionizers that clean the air. However an ionizer air purifier with a built in ionizers are problematic if the HEPA filter needs to be changed.

When the ionizer inside the air cleaner is turned on, a series of highly charged volts create electrons which are emitted into the air. Negative ions are formed when the charged electrons are attached to air molecules.

Negative ions are dispersed throughout the room, and attach themselves to dust, pollen, cigarette smoke and pet dander, which form larger particles that are easily trapped by the air filters inside the air cleaners. The particles, however, also drop to the floor to be swept or vacuumed up. They may also cling to positive ions, or to the air cleaner itself, which ultimately requires frequent cleaning.

As the HEPA filter begins to wear out, unfiltered harmful particles are often returned to the atmosphere. For this reason, it is advisable that the ionizer should not be used until the filter is changed. If allergens such as animal dander or smoke are present, a filter’s normal life cycle will be reduced significantly. Consumers should familiarize themselves with their air purifier’s operations manual in order to learn and understand how frequently they must change the air filter
When the air is agitated in any manner, negative ions are present. They are present around waterfalls, ocean surf, rivers and mountains. Positive ions are present in carpets, draperies and allergens.

Many people believe that negative ions promote physical wellness and believe that health benefits increase with the percentage of negative ions. This theory, however, has not been proven.

To sum it all up, ionizers enable air purifiers to function efficiently. They help people breathe easier, as long as the HEPA filters are changed regularly and the dust particles that collect on carpets, drapes and furniture surfaces are removed.
